From: Charles Knight Food for Thought… Your Roles in Life Can Benefit Each Other
You’ve heard me say this before and it’s worth repeating; “What you can do through your own efforts is limited, what you can do through the efforts of others in unlimited”. This philosophy does not only apply to business but your family as well.
To be effective at building "Team Spirit", your family as well as your salespeople need to know the WHY. What common goals are we attempting to achieve?

An Idea for Action... How Far Can You Reach? Life's greatest satisfaction comes from attaining goals that you once believed were beyond your reach. Only after you've tried will you really know how far you can go. Have you ever been disappointed by exceeding what you thought were your limits? In what area of your life can you see yourself welcoming a challenge next? What would be one step beyond your current goal? "Your goals are the road maps that guide you and show you what is possible for your life."~ Les Brown Stay centered on getting 2008 off to the best start possible. When things go wrong, do you respond or react? Do you tend to focus on the treasure or the trouble? "I am responsible. Although I may not be able to prevent the worst from happening, I am responsible for my attitude toward the inevitable misfortunes that darken life. Bad things do happen; how I respond to them defines my character and the quality of my life. I can choose to sit in perpetual sadness, immobilized by the gravity of my loss, or I can choose to rise from the pain and treasure the most precious gift I have—life itself." ~ Walter Anderson Study Today's Quote carefully. Burn it into your heart... your mind... your very being. It is that important. FACT: For you to make 2008 your best year ever, you will have to overcome endless set-backs... plow through 354 more days of life's inevitable obstacles... detour around countless bottlenecks... all on the path to achieving your dreams. · Actually, this is a GOOD thing! · It's the FUN part. · Play the Game of Success to WIN! When you understand that this is the natural order of things, it makes perfect sense. Reminder: We no longer live in the Garden of Eden. We were given the big boot! Not just off "Survivor's Island," but out into the harsh reality of survival itself. Now, we have to overcome life's perpetual challenges in order to actually live life. What we get in the end is determined by how well we play the game. As I am often fond of saying, we have a prime choice: Results or Regrets. We can either live the life of our dreams... or suffer in the shallows of lasting regrets. It is a matter of choice... how you chose to RESPOND to life itself is what determines if you are truly living... or merely committing "slow-motion-suicide"... dying a bit each day from regrets and recrimination. Do You Believe in You? Without question, it is our ATTITUDE towards your dreams and goals that has a huge impact on achieving them. If you don't believe in your dreams... don't believe that you can do what it takes to achieve them... don't believe in yourself enough to make the commitments necessary to see them through to completion... your goals are dead in the water. If you know your Attitude is sabotaging your success, PLEASE break out of the bondage of pessimism and despair. There is no point in your setting goals if you have no inner-belief that you can achieve them. The quickest way out of this trap is to listen to your ATTITUDE. Begin to focus on “WHAT YOU THINK ABOUT ALL DAY LONG.” You are a sum total of your thoughts and ONE thing that you can DO NOW to break free from the cynical cycle is DECIDE… Success or Failure is a CHOICE. Look as far out into the future as you believe you can. Think about the way you want to WORK. Think about the way you want to PLAY. Think about the way you want to LIVE. Think about what is MOST important to you and those around you. If you want to actually ACHIEVE your goals this year and beyond, you need to make smart choices and take smarter actions. This means turning it up... then keeping up... Great Luck, Great Health & Great Success! Charles Knight |

An Idea for Action... January 8, 2008 Is Your Dream Firm and Clear, or Soft and Cloudy? Fix your dream firmly in place. Nail it down with specific details and Play the Game of Success! Do you know exactly where you’re going and how to get there? How explicitly can your envision you dream right now? Once you know your direction, how will you create "The Plan" that gets you there faster? "There is a certain combination of anarchy and discipline in the way I work." ~ Robert De Niro What a brilliant observation: Anarchy and Discipline! Doesn't that, more or less, describe the way most of us work? At Health Craft, our promise is to help you make 2008 your best year ever. To do this, we're going to help you to remove a little of life’s natural ANARCHY... and instill a little more DISCIPLINE! Think about the way you want to WORK. Think about the way you want to PLAY. Think about the way you want to LIVE. Think about what is MOST important to you and those around you. Forget for a moment HOW you're going to achieve your goals. We already know the answer to that question… You’re going to perform to meet or exceed your expectations and sell more cookware! The big issue to confront today is what you want to see happen by the end of 2008. Move that thought from your heart and head to a sheet of paper and you have taken this first and most important step towards success! Your Single Most Important Goals for 2008 are... WORK: PLAY: Success is a choice, and so is failure. If you want to actually ACHIEVE your goals in 2008 and beyond, you need to "Play the Game of Success". Otherwise, you are just idly talking the talk, but not walking the walk. This means turning it up... then keeping it going… Health Craft Cooking Show Hosts work an average of 150 days a year, the majority earns an average $500 per Tradeshow Day, and then there are those who earn an average of $1,000 or more per tradeshow day. It's not all about “Your Show Schedule”, is it? Some of you may remember a certain couple a few years back who earned $103,000 in their first full year on a “Throw Away” show schedule (show that others did not want to work). How did they do it? Success is only “A Game” you play with yourself… Back in the day (25 years ago), when I first began working shows in Florida, attempting to get the Show Program off the ground, working malls, flea markets and “throw away” shows, I referred to myself as “$1,000 a day Jose”… It was “A Game” to keep my mind focused on what I needed to earn each working day to reach my Daily Goals, Monthly Goals and finally my Yearly Goals. Write down your Work, Play and Life Goals, by specific about what you want, and then break it down to “Your Daily Goal”, then bring on your “A GAME” and you will succeed in removing a little of life’s natural ANARCHY... and instill a little more DISCIPLINE! An Idea for Action... Do You Think Before You React? Don't just react automatically to the urgent. If you take the time to choose how and where to spend your time, you will become infinitely more productive. Take the time to review your prioritized list before you divert your attention to a less important, more urgent task.
"Time = Life. Therefore, waste your time and waste of your life, or master your time and master your life." ~ Alan Lakein Today's Commentary is centered on getting 2008 off to the best start possible. Looking at your Number One goal for 2008... What small steps will you take this month towards achieving it?
"Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense." ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson In other words, what is important to you... and which path will get you closer to what really matters... and which will take you further away from what you value most? Amazingly, the first week of January is just about in our rear-view mirrors. As Emerson so wisely points out, "you have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; begin it well..." Great advice! Are you rapidly moving in the direction of your goals... or are they still soft and fuzzy—looming way off on the horizon? If you took some time to map out your future this week—to write out your goals with clarity and detail—you have set up the rest of the year for success beyond expectation. If you haven't, you still have time. But remember, the future is rolling forward like an unstoppable locomotive, fast-tracking towards 2009, 2010, and 2011 and beyond.
The best way to predict your future is to create it!

A New Year message from Charles Knight… 37 years ago this month, a long time high school friend and I rented a home together in Colonia, NJ. At 23 we had been recently discharged from the military and eager to get on with our lives. I was attending Rutgers University working part time in the cookware business, and Danny was working as an elevator mechanic. As we surveyed our new “completely empty party house” attempting to determine what we would need to beg, borrow or buy for furniture we came upon the only thing left by the previous tenant. Something that would change our direction in life forever… Hanging in the basement was a large plaque attractively framed with the words of Paul J. Meyer, a success disciple of Napoleon Hill author of “Think and Grow Rich”. From that point in time my thought process about life and work changed dramatically from one focused on landing a secure job with benefits to exploring the mental process of self determination.
